Welcome To 19th Malaysian International Chemistry Congress (19MICC) 2018

I am pleased to announce that Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM), in collaboration with Department of Chemistry Malaysia (JKM), and local universities including UM, UPM, UKM, USM, UiTM and AIMST, is organising the 19th Malaysian International Chemistry Congress (19MICC) 2018 from 30th October to 2nd November 2018 at the Bayview Hotel Langkawi, Kedah. The 19MICC 2018 is to be held concurrently with the International Congress on Pure & Applied Chemistry (ICPAC) Langkawi 2018. ICPAC is jointly organised by IKM, the Foundation for Interaction between Science & Technology (FIST) and Asia Chem Corporation (ACC) Japan.

The first Malaysian Chemical Congress (MCC) was held in 1986.  Later, it was renamed to Malaysian International Chemistry Congress (MICC) to reflect the diverse participants it has attracted. MICC has become the major chemical event in Malaysia where participants from across the world present their research findings, technology innovation and latest developments in chemical sciences. 19MICC 2018, with the theme “Chemistry for Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond”, features four days of scientific and technical sessions, plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations, as well as exceptional networking opportunities and a unique social programme. 19MICC 2018 consists of seven symposia covering main areas in chemistry. For more information, please go to www.19micc.org.my.

For only the third time in its short history, the 19MICC 2018 is to be held outside of Kuala Lumpur – in the beautiful and legendary Island of Langkawi. Langkawi has long since been a popular tourist destination among locals and foreigners alike. Ripe with natural treasures and a vibrant night life, it has something to offer for everyone. For first time visitors, be sure to visit Langkawi’s main attractions; Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark, Underwater World, the Sky Bridge, Langkawi’s Bird Paradise, the iconic Eagle sculpture in Dataran Lang, Langkawi Cable Car, Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls, Langkawi Wild Life Park & Bird Paradise, and the 3D art museum.

As Chairman of the 19th Malaysian International Chemistry Congress 2018, I would like to invite you to participate in 19MICC 2018 in Langkawi, Malaysia. We will have an excellent scientific programme with presentations from top scientists from all over the world. You can enjoy all, the sun, the sea, beautiful sandy beaches, and natural treasures like marine life and geopark. It is also a shopper’s paradise where all goods are duty-free. You are also invited to bring along your family and friends to enjoy this beautiful experience of visiting Langkawi and the surrounding islands. It will be a memorable experience that you will never forget.
